We used a 5-hour test to compare the friction, wear, and lubrication of Dynamic Wax vs. traditional, roll-on, and untreated PTEX boards. Independent testing showed Dynamic Wax had a faster, smoother, more efficient ride.
01 — Friction
Every run is a fight between your base and the snow. Snow crystals, water film, pressure, temperature — the surface underneath you never stops changing, and every bit of drag it creates is speed you paid for and didn't get to keep.
The coefficient of friction (COF) is how a lab measures that drag. Lower COF means the base is moving with less resistance — which means a smoother, faster, more efficient ride, run after run.

02 — Wear
After the friction test, the lab measured how deep the wear actually cut into the PTEX — using 3D profilometry, the same kind of scan used to map microscopic surface damage. Deeper cut means more damage to the base. Shallower means the surface held its ground.
This test ran on the three Dynamic Wax treatments after five hours of continuous, focused wear — a steel ball under load, driven across the base thousands of times.

03 — Lubrication
Friction and wear are what a lab measures. Lubrication is what actually changes them — the thin working layer between the base and the snow that determines how much resistance and damage ever reach the PTEX in the first place.
Dynamic Wax's nano-layer is that mechanism. It works at a scale you can't see, so it holds up the same way whether the snow underneath is fresh powder, packed groomer, or wet spring slush.

Some high-performance ski waxes have historically relied on fluorinated chemistry — PFAS, the "forever chemicals" that break down slowly and build up in people and the environment over time. The EPA has raised specific concerns about these compounds turning up in ski wax.
Dynamic Wax was built without them from the start, and it's been independently, third-party certified as PFAS-free — not just a claim on the bottle.
How it was tested

The takeaway
Tribology comes down to friction, wear, and lubrication — and Dynamic Wax led on every one the lab could put a number on. Permanent posted the lowest coefficient of friction in the entire eight-sample set. Ghost beat every traditional and untreated surface it was measured against. And layered together, the two cut wear deeper into the base than either treatment managed alone.
None of that happens in a lab that only tests one kind of snow. Because the nano-layer works at a microscopic scale rather than sitting on top of the base like a traditional wax, it doesn't rely on one specific temperature or texture to function — it holds up the same way whether you're pushing through cold, dry powder early season, packed groomers midday, or heavy, wet spring slush that usually grabs at a base and slows a rider down. That's the real-world case the numbers point to: consistent glide as conditions change, not just a good score in one controlled setup.
